Impacting Microcirculation to Improve Performance, Pain Relief, and Overall Health

Energy Frequencies can improve performance and help relieve pain.

In my journey to learn about as many techniques for pain management as possible, I have been introduced to some medical devices that are powered by energy to heal the body at a cellular level. There are a number of these devices coming to market and being approved by the FDA as Class I or II devices.


I’ve been given BEMER treatments by my chiropractor and was given a Healy treatment by a holistic healer to help with my performance and pain relief. In upcoming podcast episodes, I will interview experts on both of these methods and how they may be able to assist with pain relief, but now I want to educate you on how devices that emit low, variable frequencies work, what they target, and what outcomes have been realized.


There is something special about energy healing though and it seems to be making a breakthrough right now, so first, let’s dive into some terminology that is important to understand when you hear about some of these novel technologies, and then we will focus on the how it works and results that have been realized.


What is Microcirculation?


Microcirculation of the cardiovascular system is akin to all of the local roads in a city. You have your highways, but to get to a specific address, you need smaller roads and in certain cases those are tiny alleyways and driveways and then even get you to the specific chair you intend to sit on.

Jackson, in Muscle, 2012, “[microcirculation] is in this branching network of microvessels that transport and exchange heat, respiratory gases, nutrients, waste products, water, and hormones between the blood and the body’s tissues. Blood flowing in the microvasculature also carries leukocytes and lymphocytes to their tissue targets, and it is here that the trafficking of these inflammatory and immune cells takes place between blood and tissue (3,4). Microvessels also importantly contribute to peripheral vascular resistance (5), vascular capacitance (6), and blood pressure regulation (5), and they are the effectors responsible for the control of blood flow to, and within the body’s tissues and organs (1,5,7,)”.

So, microcirculation is a vital function for the health and longevity of our bodies. It affects the flow of blood at the microlevel. Improving the flow of oxygen, white blood cells, and nutrients by using devices that affect microcirculation seem to be driving positive results for athletic performance, those with injuries, and a myriad of ailments including pain.


What is bio-energetics?


As defined by Nature, Bioenergetics “is the branch of biochemistry that focuses on how cells transform energy, often by producing, storing or consuming adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Bioenergetic processes, such as cellular respiration or photosynthesis, are essential to most aspects of cellular metabolism, therefore to life itself.”


What is bio-magnetics?


Bio-magnetics, as defined by David Cohen from MIT, “is the phenomenon where magnetic fields are produced by the living things, especially by the human body; (different from magnetic fields applied to the body, called magnetobiology).”


What are some therapies or devices that target microcurrent and microcirculation?

  • Specific low-frequency pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF, 1000 Hz or less), also called complex neuro-electromagnetic pulses (Cnp)

  • Individualized Microcurrent Frequency Devices (IMFD, 1000 Hz or less) or Frequency Specific Microcurrents

  • Microcurrent therapy


How do they impact microcirculation?


According to Dr. Rainer Klopp, MD Phd Research Scientist in the fields of Microcirculation, Cardiology, Oncology, Internal Medicine, and Dermatology, Institute of Microcirculation, Berlin, "adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is the currency of energy in our bodies. In order for more activity at our cellular level, biofeedback must impact the levels of ATP produced in the body. When we have low cell energy, we have a bioenergetic deficiency and when we have decreased oxygen in the blood, we have hypoxia."


Improved microcirculation means improved cellular respiration. Oxygen intake at the cellular level is the cornerstone of good health because it improves mitochondrial production resulting in improved detoxification which produces more ATP for cellular energy. 75% of blood vessels in the body are micro-vessels, which means that microcirculation improvements significantly impact the functionality of all parts of the body. Improving blood flow means improving nutrient flow and the flow of white blood vessels which fight inflammation and disease.
